In an age of ‘recipes for happiness’, where everyone seems to be competing to show just how grateful they are to life for the gifts they have received, where one must be the architect of one’s own existence, where everything depends simply on us and our willingness to connect with

the vibrational energy of the universe, there are those who may well remain a little perplexed.

The feeling is that we are so busy trying to become what the world would like us to be that we have forgotten who we really are. And so there are those who, amidst all this glossy gratitude, remain on the fence and perhaps decide to practise genuine ingratitude, just to take a dip in reality, to view with irony, light-heartedness and compassion the splendid fallibility of all human beings – because even the best of us make mistakes.
